Charles Town Utility Board – Opportunity to Serve

The City of Charles Town announces a vacant seat serving the Charles Town Utility Board (Board).  The vacancy is available to any Jefferson County resident wishing to serve their community.

The Board manages and maintains an extensive water and sanitary sewer system serving the greater Charles Town region.  The Board has full and complete authority for the supervision, management, control, and operation of the system, including the maintenance, operations, improvements and extensions thereof.  Meetings of the Board are held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at 4:00 pm.  Meetings are held at 661 S. George Street, Charles Town.  The chosen candidate will serve a term commencing from the time of appointment until December 31, 2025.

Interested individuals should provide a letter of interest and resume highlighting the individual’s relevant experience and background. Individuals considered for the position may be asked to provide additional information and/or be asked to attend a City Council meeting.   An ideal candidate will have served on a municipal or similar governmental board or commission.  Candidates without prior experience, however, are still encouraged to apply for consideration.

The selected candidate should possess a professional background and/or experience in water and /or sewer utilities that would benefit the Board of Directors. Such background includes but is not limited to: engineering with a background in water and/or sewer utilities: land development; construction; accountant; legal; or environmental protection.
